Cor, that guy Meikle is a bit fierce. God knows why he thinks you support the hydrocarbon lobby - you might be in favour of tidal power as I am. You carefully don't say. But wind power is clearly inefficient and an awful blow to the environment, and merely benefits the developers. Alistair

Dear Dr Rider, My father was born in Glencoul and went to school at Drumbeg, Stoer and Golspie; his mother (in Glencoul) possibly gave cups of tea to Peach and Horne, so he would have been an ideal reader of your book. I would like to attach a poem about life at Glencoul in the early 20th century, but that may be impossible. Meanwhile, I loved your book. Alistair
